The Wesleys and Bristol


Depart by coach for Bristol and visit the New Room and Charles Wesley’s House, led by Dr Tim Macquiban.

Bristol is the place of Second rise of Methodist movement. evangelical preaching in open air by George Whitfield and the Wesley Brothers. Articulated the social needs of "the savages" - the workers in the coal mines. Spoke strongly against slavery and the riches of Bristol because of slavetrades. Origin of class meetings and Sunday school movement.
